If you ever think of Jesus, where do you picture him being located? Do you see an image on a crucifix on some church wall? Do you think of a confessional booth in a church? Maybe you picture him watching a church assembly as worshipers sing praises to him with raised hands. All could be places where you would envision Jesus being. We might get a clearer picture of Jesus though if we look outside the walls of church buildings.
I have a friend who wrote a song, “I Think I Saw Jesus.” Where? On aisle 4 of a grocery store on his knees cleaning up a mess that a child caused by breaking some products; on a street corner holding a sign, “Will work for food;” in the freckled face of a young boy playing a neighborhood game of baseball. That would be a good place to see Jesus.
Or take a look at the picture that accompanies this blog. Where can you picture Jesus saving a world? On the cross, for sure. Could you see him in a bar? What about standing in the midst of a gang? Or in the middle of undocumented immigrants trying to cross a border? Could you see him in some spot in your life as you are doing something that will bring you down somehow?
Jesus came to seek and save those who are lost (Luke 19:10). He could not do that by staying in heaven, wherever that is. He can’t do that by just going into church buildings. He went out where he was needed, and he goes out wherever he can. You likely have run into his spirit in some way.

Jesús - Fuera de los Muros
Si alguna vez piensas en Jesús, ¿dónde te lo imaginas ubicado? ¿Ves una imagen en un crucifijo en la pared de alguna iglesia? ¿Piensas en un confesionario en una iglesia? Tal vez lo imagines observando una asamblea de la iglesia mientras los fieles le cantan alabanzas con las manos levantadas. Todos podrían ser lugares donde imaginarías que estaría Jesús. Sin embargo, podríamos tener una imagen más clara de Jesús si miramos fuera de los muros de los edificios de las iglesias.
Tengo un amigo que escribió una canción, "Creo que vi a Jesús". ¿Dónde? En el pasillo 4 de una tienda de comestibles de rodillas limpiando un desastre que un niño provocó al romper algunos productos; en una esquina con un cartel que decía “Trabajaré por comida”; en el rostro pecoso de un niño que juega un partido de béisbol en el vecindario. Ese sería un buen lugar para ver a Jesús.
O echa un vistazo a la fotografía que acompaña este blog. ¿Dónde puedes imaginarte a Jesús salvando un mundo? En la cruz, seguro. ¿Podrías verlo en un bar? ¿Qué tal estar en medio de una pandilla? ¿O en medio de inmigrantes indocumentados que intentan cruzar una frontera? ¿Podrías verlo en algún momento de tu vida mientras estás haciendo algo que te deprimirá de alguna manera?
Jesús vino a buscar y salvar a los que están perdidos (Lucas 19:10). No podría hacerlo quedándose en el cielo, dondequiera que esté. No puede hacer eso simplemente entrando a los edificios de la iglesia. Salió donde lo necesitaban y sale donde puede. Probablemente te hayas topado con su espíritu de alguna manera.
