Social Influencers

If you are on social media much, you know who this term refers to; in fact, you probably know some by name and maybe you even follow a few. In truth, everyone is influenced by someone else socially. The two biggest social influencers have been around for a long, long time: Jesus and Satan. You can read about their influence in John 10:10 of the Bible: The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life in its fullest.

What was Jesus referring to with his words? He was talking about the influence that he and Satan have on people. Satan wants to influence people in such a way that just totally obliterates them. Jesus wants to influence people in a way that enables them to experience the best life possible. It is pretty straightforward; except it is hard to choose the right influencer. That is because Jesus always speaks truth. In John 14:6, Jesus claimed he was the embodiment of truth. That sounds good, but we all know that sometimes truth is hard to take, sometimes it hurts. So we are not always inclined to listen to truth. On the otherhand, there is Satan, and he speaks with lies. Read John 8:44, and you will find that out and more. The problem with lies is that they are easier on the ears. Any lie that is effective is one that draws people into it. We want to believe the lies, and we are so ready to reject hard truths.

The social result is that there is a real and ongoing battle for followers. Jesus is trying to lead us to the best life by being honest with us in every way. Satan is trying to steal us from God, literally kill us, and totally destroy us by telling us the lies we want to hear. You are following one of these social influencers; there is no question about that. The question is, Which one are you following? How your life story turns out will depend on which of these two you follow.

We say we don’t like being lied to, but that is not totally true, is it? Sometimes we prefer the lies, because we like what we get to do when we embrace them. However, in the end, when our stories are further developed, we begin to discover the pain and the destruction that come because we embraced those lies. Maybe you are into those chapters of your life already. Maybe you are ready to close out your life story and shut the book, because you are in pain and see no possibility for improvement in your life. Please don’t do that, because as long as you breath, there are more chapters to be written. Don’t let Satan write the last chapter of your life. Give the controls to Jesus and let him lead you into some great chapters, the best chapters of your life. He does that sort of thing, and he does it really well.

As I close out this blog, I ask you to think of a handful of people you know who are hurting, maybe they are about to give up all hope, because they have followed the wrong social influencer. Share this post with them, and then strike out together to follow the best social influencer that ever was or ever will be. Si estás mucho en las redes sociales, sabes a quién se refiere este término; de hecho, probablemente conozcas a algunos por su nombre y tal vez incluso sigas a algunos. En verdad, todo el mundo está influenciado socialmente por alguien más. Los dos mayores influyentes sociales existen desde hace mucho, mucho tiempo: Jesús y Satanás. Puedes leer sobre su influencia en Juan 10:10 de la Biblia: El ladrón viene a hurtar, matar y destruir; He venido para que tengan vida en plenitud.

¿A qué se refería Jesús con sus palabras? Estaba hablando de la influencia que él y Satanás tienen sobre la gente. Satanás quiere influir en las personas de tal manera que las aniquile por completo. Jesús quiere influir en las personas de una manera que les permita experimentar la mejor vida posible. Es bastante sencillo; excepto que es difícil elegir al influencer adecuado. Esto se debe a que Jesús siempre dice la verdad. En Juan 14:6, Jesús afirmó que era la encarnación de la verdad. Eso suena bien, pero todos sabemos que a veces la verdad es difícil de aceptar y a veces duele. Por eso no siempre estamos dispuestos a escuchar la verdad. Por otro lado, está Satanás y habla con mentiras. Lea Juan 8:44 y descubrirá eso y más. El problema con las mentiras es que son más agradables a los oídos. Cualquier mentira que sea eficaz es aquella que atrae a la gente hacia ella. Queremos creer las mentiras y estamos muy dispuestos a rechazar las duras verdades.

El resultado social es que hay una batalla real y continua por los seguidores. Jesús está tratando de llevarnos a una mejor vida siendo honesto con nosotros en todos los sentidos. Satanás está tratando de robarnos de Dios, literalmente matarnos y destruirnos totalmente diciéndonos las mentiras que queremos escuchar. Estás siguiendo a uno de estos influencers sociales; No hay duda sobre eso. La pregunta es ¿Cuál estás siguiendo? El resultado de la historia de tu vida dependerá de cuál de estos dos sigas.

Decimos que no nos gusta que nos mientan, pero eso no es del todo cierto, ¿Verdad? A veces preferimos las mentiras porque nos gusta lo que podemos hacer cuando las aceptamos. Sin embargo, al final, cuando nuestras historias se desarrollan más, comenzamos a descubrir el dolor y la destrucción que surgen porque aceptamos esas mentiras. Quizás ya estés en esos capítulos de tu vida. Tal vez esté listo para cerrar la historia de su vida y cerrar el libro, porque siente dolor y no ve ninguna posibilidad de mejorar su vida. Por favor, no hagas eso, porque mientras respires, habrá más capítulos por escribir. No permitas que Satanás escriba el último capítulo de tu vida. Dale los controles a Jesús y deja que él te lleve a grandes capítulos, los mejores capítulos de tu vida. Él hace ese tipo de cosas y lo hace muy bien.
