People are fascinated by DNA. Our DNA identifies us. That is why forensic medicine uses it to connect criminals with a crime. It has also been used to exonerate people who were falsely accused. The idea of DNA strands led to a series of movies about dinosaurs. People send off samples of their DNA to learn more about their ancestry. Who we are is important and our DNA helps establish that identity.
Your identity has a deeper component than what is found in your DNA, because you are more than a physical being. You are spiritual as well. So you might want to consider that you have a spiritual DNA as well. You may not have been told this, but you were created in the image of the Almighty God. Check out Genesis 1 to read about that. In your spiritual DNA is a rather special trait that is in you: holiness. You were made to be holy and are called to be holy. The apostle Peter once wrote, But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do. For it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy” (1 Peter 1:15-16).
You have heard that word, but maybe you never took much time to understand it. You should because that is part of your identity, and you will never understand fully who you are unless you understand holiness. You will be disconnected from your roots, and you will not be able to live fully into your potential.
One of the books I am attempting to get re-published (Leviticus Alive! Your God May Be Too Small) focuses on understanding what that ancient book teaches us about holiness. I revised it so that it is a much better book. It raises the question, How do we live in the presence of the Holy God? That is a question that should be more on our minds than it is. Answering that question well can help us know who we are and who we are connected to. It can guide us toward living into our full potential.

La gente está fascinada por el ADN. Nuestro ADN nos identifica. Por eso la medicina forense lo utiliza para conectar a los delincuentes con un delito. Has escuchado esa palabra, pero quizás nunca te tomaste mucho tiempo para entenderla. Deberías hacerlo porque eso es parte de tu identidad y nunca entenderás completamente quién eres a menos que comprendas la santidad. Estarás desconectado de tus raíces y no podrás vivir plenamente tu potencial.
Uno de los libros que estoy intentando que se vuelva a publicar (¡Levítico vivo! Tu Dios Puede Ser Demasiado Pequeño) se centra en comprender lo que ese libro antiguo nos enseña sobre la santidad. Lo revisé para que sea un libro mucho mejor. Plantea la pregunta: ¿Cómo vivimos en la presencia del Dios Santo? Ésa es una pregunta que debería estar más presente en nuestras mentes de lo que es. Responder bien esa pregunta puede ayudarnos a saber quiénes somos y con quién estamos conectados. Puede guiarnos hacia vivir todo nuestro potencial.
Me centraré durante unas semanas en esta parte de quiénes somos. Así que regresa y explora tu ADN espiritual de santidad. Habla con tus amigos sobre esto, revisad juntos el blog y mantened algunas conversaciones sobre esta parte tan especial de vuestra identidad.
