In last week’s blog, we looked at the very first question recorded in the Bible and what it revealed about the questioner.That question was asked by Satan, the serpent in the Garden of Eden. So if he asked the first question, what is the very first question recorded in the Bible that is asked by God?
Is your mind running through the scriptures? Feel free to open a Bible and start scanning the pages. Where would you expect to find this question? If you are thinking Genesis, you are correct. In fact, you will find it in the same chapter as Satan’s first question. Have you recalled the question yet or found it? Look at Genesis 3:9, and you will find the question.
The very first question, asked by God, that is recorded in the Bible is this: “Where are you?” Seems like pretty simple question, but it also reflects the nature of the questioner. The question does not reveal that God had lost the man and woman or lost sight of them. It wasn’t like he didn’t know what had happened. He knew the woman and the man had disobeyed him. What did the man and woman expect God to do to them? They thought God was going to kill them, so they hid from him. What did God do when they hid? He went looking for them.
This is where we get a first glimpse of this part of God’s character. He is a God who seeks out people when they have disobeyed him. Did he do it so that he could kill them? No. He did punish them, but he made a way for them to live instead of die. Why? Because God had not stopped loving people, and he would begin a journey of bringing them back to him. In order to bring them back, he had to go out and find them. This is the repeated story over and over again through the Bible. God’s ultimate effort of seeking people who have disobeyed him was sending his son Jesus to die… for us.
Have you disobeyed any of God’s teachings? Of course you have. We all have. Did you do it willingly? Yep. All of us have. Did you know better? Most likely. We all are in the same shoes. And yet, God still seeks us out…you included. He has not stopped loving you. He still wants you to be with him, and he has made that possible.
The question you have to answer is: What are you going to do with the God who seeks you out?

Aquí es donde podemos vislumbrar por primera vez esta parte del carácter de Dios. Es un Dios que busca a las personas cuando le han desobedecido. ¿Lo hizo para poder matarlos? No. Él los castigó, pero les abrió un camino para vivir en lugar de morir. ¿Por qué? Porque Dios no había dejado de amar a las personas y comenzaría un camino para traerlas de regreso a él. Para recuperarlos, tuvo que salir a buscarlos. Esta es la historia repetida una y otra vez a través de la Biblia. El esfuerzo final de Dios de buscar personas que lo han desobedecido fue enviar a su hijo Jesús a morir… por nosotros.
¿Has desobedecido alguna de las enseñanzas de Dios? Por supuesto que sí. Todos tenemos. ¿Lo hiciste de buena gana? Sí. Todos lo hemos hecho. ¿Lo sabías mejor? Más probable. Todos estamos en los mismos zapatos. Y, sin embargo, Dios todavía nos busca... tú incluido. Él no ha dejado de amarte. Él todavía quiere que estés con él y lo ha hecho posible.
La pregunta que tienes que responder es: ¿Qué vas a hacer con el Dios que te busca?
